Hobbit Letter
Dear Friends,
Thank you for all the wonderful letters. Our mailbox was just stuffed with your love and greetings when we returned from Underhill’s Academy in Serene Basin. We learned many new skills at the Academy and plan to return someday soon.
This summer has also been eventful at our homestead. Due to an abundance of rain we will be undertaking a hearty remodeling project. We hope you will all visit us next summer and help us warm our hearth.
Sincerely,
Hagus and Hilaria

Mage Chatterbox
Mage Chatterbox was excited to learn the ability to Astral Travel. He did not have this skill before. The mage was part of Group 1. Our first task was to explore and work our way through the maze. Our group had two mages. We took turns using the astral Travel to explore each branch looking for dead ends. We avoided loosing any of our tokens by doing this. The Astral Travel was hard on the mages as it took a lot of energy to perform. The result was a successful journey through the maze.
(Notes to the GDs: The center of the maze should have had something in it for each group to retrieve. We did do the maze but it took awhile and when we were done, we had nothiing to show for it other than we had four tokens out of four. We could have just sat on the hill side for ten minutes and then reported back.)
On our second task, we came close to solving two tasks with one journey. The second task was the dark cave. On the way to it, we discovered the captured water elemental but didn’t know what to do with her. When she soaked us with water, we ran away. Had we stayed, we might have freed her and accidentally completed an additional task unknowingly. While we were exploring the dark cave, we lost the Jester–his story was that a beam fell on him and he was trapped under it. Personally, I think he fell into the pit and died.
Our next task was the chess game. We went to the Fairy Island and found two King Gnomes and two Guard Gnomes. It took some of us several repetions of the task to understand that the board had a black king, a white king, and two white rooks. Even after we got started, we were not able to solve the problem of checkmate in seven or less moves. It took us more than nine moves. Group 1 did not have any good chess players. We were too linear and focused for chess.
Our fourth task was to interact with the water elemental. We almost ran down the trail to her. Imagine our surprise when we saw her coming toward us. She had escaped the elemental trap and attacked us. Using heat, I vaporized her and she drifted away. We immediately returned to the Commons and reported to the Head Master that the water elemental was free. He summoned her and questioned her. We learned that a yellow-skinned monster had released her and destroyed the trap scattering the major parts throughout the land.
Before we could get our next task, the head master called all four groups together and told us about the monster. We needed to stop the monster and find Master Brahm. At least two groups or maybe three started after the monster. The monster seemed to move rapidly through the land. We had a hard time trying to catch up to him, much less catch him. Neither weapons nor magic seemed to bother him, much less actually hurt him. Our assassin warrior got on its trail and refused to give up. He fought the monster with everything he had but was not able to kill the monster. We learned that one of the other groups had found Master Brahm’s spell book. They used it to return or “unsummon” the monster back to his home world.
Mage Chatterbox grew tired of the chase. He used the power staff that was entrusted to Master Brahm and challenged the monster. Even it was not powerful enough to harm or even stop the monster. It stabbed Mage Chatterbox directly into the heart, killing him, and ripping his heart out of his chest. The group’s healer did not have a spare heart and the mage died.
Chatterbox went to the Death Guide and decided to remain a spirit for the rest of the game–missed the returning of the monster to its home land.
(NOTE to GDs) The Fairy ball, Belles Ball, was great! I believe everyone enjoyed it and had a great time at it. Beautiful idea. We need to do it again, next game. Whatever the “trap” was on the Fairy Island, we should have nothing but Gnomes and Fairies on the Island next year. Both the Gnome Village and the Fairy Glen were spectacular!
Note to other characters: This is an example of a character story, enjoy and write your own.

Write your story
Write your story!
What happened to you on your adventure? What was fun for you? What was boring and dull? What surprised you? This is your opportunity to tell all. One rule for your story, use character names only.
Yes, you may comment on other character stories. If I get a lot of comments on a story, I will move it to an entry and the character story can grow on its own entry.
So, everyone start writing!

GD Note for players
***Out-of-character***
Please remember fair play on the blog:
- While writing your blog for your character, please do not write for another character, unless you have permission to do so by that player. This means you should not be writing any actions, thoughts or words for another character.
- Do not assign any background story to another character. All the players who have signed up have written their own characters with background stories. If you think you want to tie your character to another, then just interact with them - ask questions - have conversations. If you would like the email for another player, contact the Game Designers.
- Somewhere in your blog, you should be working in explanations of who you are, your background, your reason for attending the school.
[*]Any attempts at taking over any part of the school will be thwarted by the GDs.
